Capturing My Serenity
My Journey
Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, the ocean was never far away. You could say it’s engrained in our culture, with surfing being a national pastime.
My journey into photography began completely by accident in 2005. I was studying graphic design at Tafe hoping to start a career in visual effects. Though I struggled with the graphic side of things, one class I excelled in, Photography, as if it came naturally to me. In 2007 I switched majors and began my journey, eventually graduating with an advanced diploma in 2009.
Over the years, photography remained more of a passion rather than a career, but life eventually got in the way and I didn’t pick up a camera for a long time. In 2021 I had a life changing event unfold and my world was turned upside down.
Photography started to come back into my life as a way to escape with the ocean playing a part in discovering my Serenity, I eventually started blending the two together and my instagram handle “capturing my serenity” was born.
Through my camera, I aim to capture the raw power and beauty of the ocean and its surroundings, from large landscapes, to small abstract details, and everything in-between.
